in-north-carolina: The damage caused to HWY 12 in Hatteras is heart-wrenching. 2,500+ citizens are now stranded. My girlfriend Laura’s house had it’s water line broken when a nearby tree uprooted and took the pipe with it. Half their yard is also completely flooded and their driveway was unable to be driven down, and they are 40 min inland in Dover She had to hitch a ride with someone back up to Greensboro today. NC is pretty dang resiliant, I really really hope they can get that road back up and working soon :(
